No more than they are related to humans. We kept guinea pigs for many years, and I'm fairly familiar with the basics of them.
Quoting Wikipedia (article "Guinea pig") (emphasis added):
The guinea pig (Cavia porcellus), also called the cavy, is a species of rodent belonging to the family Caviidae and the genus Cavia. Despite theircommon name, these animals are not in the pig family, nor are they from Guinea. They originated in the Andes...
They are not closely related. Wombats are marsupials while guinea pigs are placental mammals.
rodents-mice, rats etc.
NO pigs
not from guinea
Although there has been some scientific debate about it, both speicies are rodents
yes. because there all rodents.
Only in that they are both mammals...guinea pigs are not pigs at all...they are rodents...like mice, rats, etc...
No. Mice can actually kill guinea pigs.
no, guinea pigs cannot live with these animals, and yes, guinea pigs will be hurt by wild mice. guinea pigs should live with other guinea pigs, and wild mice should stay wild.
Hamsters are rodents. That means they're related to mice, rats, guinea pigs, etc.
cats ,maybe dogs and wild animals.my 2 4day old babie guinea pigs were attacked by cats and so was the dad guinea pig and they didn't survive:(so never let your cats near your guinea pigs if they are not in a closed hutch or run or cage
maybe the MAYBE answer is wrong the one on the bottom is right Guinea pigs are not related to pigs because the guinea pig is already related to rodents so if their related to rodents they can't be related to pigs.
No. Gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, mice, rats are faster than guinea pigs.
People connect hamsters and Guinea pigs with mice and some people dislike mice. Some people usually think that hamsters are the same as mice, and that is why they hate hamsters and Guinea pigs.
No guinea pigs are not reptilian. Guinea pigs are mammals.
no. guinea pigs are not related to pigs at all. it is just a name. they are actually rodents.
No :( only guinea pigs, mice & rabbits
Guinea pigs belong to the superorder Euarchontoglires, which includes rodents and primates. Sloths belong to the superorder Xenarthra. So guinea pigs and sloths are not closely related.
