This depends on the type of test and also the result. A negative result means you were HIV negative up until 2-3 months before the test was carried out. So you need to consider risks that might have occurred more recently, and take another test in 3 month to cover that period too.
Sometimes positive test results from a rapid test (where you get the result within an hour) can be false-positive. A second sample is then sent for a more accurate confirmatory test.
If your first test took several days or a week or two to get the result, then a positive result is a true result as the confirmatory test would have been run at the same lab.
Negative HIV test result
Indeterminant means that an HIV test is neither positive nor negative. Typically, if an HIV test is indeterminant, another test will be performed to confirm the results.
Only if the first HIV test was false positive can the test results change.
Nothing but the test results…
No, thyroid blood tests do not show HIV in the test results. HIV testing is a separate test that specifically looks for the presence of the HIV virus in the blood. Thyroid blood tests measure levels of thyroid hormones to assess thyroid function.
They get your blood for it and then they ask you to wait for the results. See related link.
Why not go and get an HIV test to be sure. You can get your results in 60 seconds
Doctors can test to see if you have HIV by simply taking a sample of your blood and sending it into a laboratory. After receiving the results, your doctor will usually have you schedule another appointment to review the results with you.
To be exposed to does not always mean that you will be infected. If contracting the disease you will still not test positive until some time afterwards.
The first test performed is ELISA (or EIA) is a test that screens for the presence of HIV antibodies in the blood. This test is not a test for HIV/AIDS its a very sensitive and will be reactive even if there are only 1 or 2 antibodies in that person blood sample. If the results are reactive that test will be followed by a second test called confirmatory test which is highly accurate test in which it's is used to confirm the results of the ELISA.
its the Western blot test
Immunochromatography tests for HIV are generally accurate, with sensitivity and specificity rates similar to traditional HIV tests. However, confirmatory testing is often recommended to validate the initial results and ensure accuracy. It is always best to consult with a healthcare provider for appropriate testing and interpretation of results.
