Telephone switchboards are obsolete. Since the invention of the electromechanical automatic telephone exchange manual switchboards have been being phased out. The rare switchboard still in use today may be found at hotels or businesses that have not updated their system, though this is rare because a personal computer can substitute for a switchboard easily with the right program and connection.
I hope not! Many people are only using cell phones these days, and it's dangerous to NOT have a backup phone, because cell phones are NOT 100% reliable - they can break, get lost or stolen, and you have to constantly recharge them like you would with cordless phones. Keeping your home phone is NOT old-fashioned - it's being smart and staying safe!
3g phones are not considered obsolete. Technology changes so frequently that for an item to be considered obsolete it must be on the market for many years.
No
Absolutely ! Just because mobiles are becoming cheaper to use - doesn't mean the home phone is now obsolete.
Maybe this'll work: "Placing your questions in the wrong category is quickly becoming an obsolete idea."
Not becoming... always were.
Landline phones have not reached the point of being obsolete just yet, while mobile phones have significantly decreased the need for their usage. The more elderly portion of society has yet to lose the need for a landline phone, for some the idea of using mobile phones can be daunting and extremely difficult considering all that has been crammed into them and for some comparison of phone bills is reason enough to maintain a landline phone in their home.
idkkk.....can someone help me out please

Deprecate means to belittle, to express disapproval of, or to declare that something is becoming obsolete.
They may be called such by people that are not very literate and are trying to by somewhat lyrical. As cell 'phones add more functions they will become more useful to people, not only young people that wish to download and play music on them. Such items as portable CD players, stand alone MP3 players, GPS and route finders are becoming obsolete as the capacity and functions of 'phones expand.
