Yes but not as smart as dogs.
Well first of all people say all these other animals are smart, when i they is tricks, but no one ever thinks about how much a horse has to remember, not only do they learn regular tricks but all the stuff they have to knbow in riding and showing and all they different commands and disciplines that not many other animals have to do, ud realize how smkart they really are
Horses have such small brains because, in the wild, they have no need to think much. All they have to do is survive, and that's what they are built for. They are capable of much more than humans think. True, they do not have the same intelligence of a human, but they are still fairly intelligent animals. They outsmart humans more often than not, and then we say that they are just lazy, or stupid. The only times people call animals stupid is when they have been outsmarted. They're brain does not have the capacity of ours because, up until they were domesticated, they had no need to most of the things we have taught them. Like I said earlier, they were simply focused on surviving.
Yeah, probably.
Some would argue no to this, especially those few who train their cattle to be ridden like a horse. These folks say that they tend to catch on to things a lot quicker than a horse does and are easier to train than a horse. All due respect to the horse people, different opinions can come from anywhere and anyone.
The horse is governed by instinct in most things and therefore certain areas of the brain do not need to be exceedingly large like in humans. However horses have the same mental capabilities as 5-8 year old human children. This allows them to think and figure ways out of certain situations. An example of this is if a horse gets stuck in a corral fence, while some will panic, others will stop and try to figure out how to get out, and usually they succeed unless they have gotten stuck in a way that requires a human to intervene and use tools to free them.
Another thing to remember is that horses are prey/ flight animals and they run away from danger. They need to be as light on their feet as possible and any excess weight, even brain weight can slow them down, even if it's just a fraction of a second.
Of course horses have brains. They have individual actions and think for themselves.
some horses are smart because there taught well. others are just smart
They have ESP meaning they can tell what you are thinking by reading off your body waves. If you are feeling nervous your horse will pick up on it:)
It depends on the dog and the horse.
No. I do not think that horses have enemies. If they do, I think it is probably a wild horse to have most of enemies.
