It depends on it's temperament horses are sentient creatures and have feelings.

If the horse has been treated poorly it may not be so nice. Although most horses are fairly good.

Yes, it is all about getting to know them,ok, some horses can be stubborn and stuff but it is all about the bonding and the trust that leads to a good realation ship with a horse.

As general rule yes.But be warned that all horses, just like people, have individual personalities and can be nice, mean, dull, funny etc. Never touch someone else's horse without permission, as it may bite or be sick.

Ditto on that. Most of the horses I have known, including the three I have now, are very nice. That being said, you need to be very aware of where you are and what is going on around you and the horse, especially if you are not familiar with each other. Horses can spook very easily or may become defensive if you are in the wrong place, especially if you get behind them where they can not see you. The horses I have known are very curious animals, and the best way to get to know them is by letting them come to you; don't just reach out and touch or grab them as they may become defensive. If you have the time, sit quietly with them in a pasture and eventually they will come to you to check you out. Let them sniff and prod you with their nose, just don't let them bite or grab. Hold your hand out where they can see it and where they can investigate it before trying to pet them. They just want as much respect from you as you want from them. There are a lot of good books that can teach you more about horses and their behavior and training.

Horses, in this way, are very similar to people. Some horses take to some people better than they do others for example, my mums horse loves my mum but is a completely different horse when im with her because doesn't like me. I am not horrible to her or treat her any different from my own horse. It is simply the fact that she doesn't like me and then other days she does.

That is like asking if people are nice. Some people are nice and some are not, the same is true with horses. And, I suppose much the same as people, it depends on how they are treated, except being mean to a child doesn't mean that person will be mean as an adult. However, often the way a horse is treated when they are a colt will influence the way they behave when they are grown. I was kinda long winded, but hope this helps.

No! They're generally quite aggressive and defensive of their land and herds, so it's best to keep a distance from one when in the wild. Only small groups of specifically labeled cimarron herds are tame enough to approach, but it's best to only watch from a safe distance if you see one.

Another opinion:

Wild horses should be respected and treated as wild animals. In other words, do not approach them no matter how "nice" or "friendly" they seem to be. They're wild animals, they're horses being horses, and if you don't know how to properly approach a horse or even respect a horse's space--or even read a horse to understand that they don't want you approaching them to "pet the nice horsey"--you will get hurt. It's no different from approaching a bear or a deer or a bighorn sheep or any other animal in the wild: you will suffer the consequences if you don't pay attention to the signs an animal gives you to let you know they simply want to be left alone.

Unlike what was mentioned by the previous answerer above, these wild horses are not being aggressive or mean or "defensive of their land and herds," they're just being horses, acting like horses, and telling you in the only way they know how to respect them and don't push them around or get in their space or to request they be left alone. People are too quick to think that horses are aggressive or mean when they bite or kick someone "for no reason at all." There is always a reason a horse bites or kicks, and often that reason is the people that don't understand how to speak "Horse".

Horses have many benefits they can offer to people. They allow us to transport ourselves, other people or goods to far away places. They provide therapy, (physical and mental/emotional), they allow us to learn responsibility and care and understanding among other things. Without horses the world would not have been able to develop as is has today, we owe horses a lot of thanks.

Horses like to be ridden when they're trained but a wild horse will not like it. You gain their trust by riding horses that are used to humans around.
