All invertebrates were considered " cold blooded " that is to say they control their body temperature by thermoregulation, using outside sources, rather than internal heat production (as in warm-blooded animals). However, some use other methods of creating body heat.

The correct terms are "ectotherms" (organisms that do not create most of their own body heat), and "homeotherms" (organisms that maintain a more-or-less constant body temperature).

i would say yes ... they do not posses an organ system that is able to regulate their own internal temperature and thus rely on the external environment for temperature changes. when they eat they can increase their internal temperature, but that's about it.

Cold blooded (Poikilothermic) is an old term which have been replaced with new terms ectothermic and heterothermic. Previously all invertebrates were placed in cold-blooded because most do not regulate their own body heat. This term is not valid now because while most invertebrates are ectothermic, many insects have been included in heterotherms and some in endotherms .
