YES. Schools are giving too much homework that result in a heavy backpack. I have a brother who weighs 60 pounds. Now the healthy weight of a backpack should be only 1/10 of the persons weight, but his pack weighed a good 17.5 pounds. (We weighed it with a scale) This is almost thrice (three times) the limit doctors suggest. So if your a teacher or a principal or even know one PLEASE reconsider the home-work issues. My brothers friend is only 12 and he has gray hairs on his head. THIS IS NOT GENETIC! That is because of school.

Finding an Appealing Selection of Kids Backpacks?

Kids backpacks are practically a necessity for busy schooldays. Some kids want a backpack with a particular television character featured on it. Other kids want a backpack that displays the smiling face of their favorite singer or actor. No matter what type a kid wants, there are several ways that a parent can find a selection of inexpensive, appealing backpacks. In order to make a backpack shopping experience efficient a parent may want to begin by perusing the selection found online. Some online stores have backpacks on sale around back to school time. Alternatively, parents and kids may go online to peruse the selection of a nearby store to see its offering of kids backpacks. A parent will be able to find the price and sometimes see if the backpack is in stock at the store. By spending a few minutes online, a parent can determine whether a nearby store has a desirable selection of kids backpacks. A large department store with a kids' clothing and accessories section will generally carry an abundant inventory of kids backpacks. In addition, parents are likely to find a reasonable price for kids backpacks at these large department stores. The buyers of a large department store know what is popular with most children and they will make efforts to have them in stock. They are careful in choosing the colors, styles, and designs that they think kids will buy for school. A secondhand clothing store will sometimes carry kids backpacks. There are a number of reasons why a person drops off a backpack to be sold in a secondhand clothing store. Perhaps the backpack was a gift that was never used or the child preferred another type. Most owners of secondhand clothing stores are careful to check the backpacks they receive for rips and other damage. The kids backpacks found at a secondhand store won't be brand new, but they will still be suitable for carrying books, paper, and pencils. Along with being affordable, kids backpacks must be durable and well made. Whether a parent buys one online or in a large department store, a kid's backpack must meet the needs of the student.

Choosing The Best Backpack For Back to School?

Choosing the best backpack for back-to-school will differ depending on the age of the child and whether the most important factor is style or function. Backpacks come in an overwhelming number of options in terms of shape, color, size, and design. Unfortunately, six out of ten children experience strain to their shoulders, neck and back caused by improperly-worn, poorly-supporting, or excessively heavy backpacks, so it’s important that you take your child’s specific issues into consideration. General guidelines say that a backpack shouldn’t weigh more than 15% of a person’s total body weight. Lightweight backpacks are aptly named because they don’t add much weight to the load being carried inside. Padded backpacks keep items from inside the pack from sticking into the child’s back. Backpacks with multiple compartments and a waist belt enable the wearer to distribute the weight more evenly. Wide padded shoulder straps are better than narrow straps because they don’t restrict circulation caused by straps digging into the shoulders. One of the newest offerings for back-to-school backpacks is the bulletproof backpack designed to protect the wearer from gun or knife attacks. A shield made of bulletproof material is inserted into the backpack to provide extra protection for the wearer. Before purchasing a backpack for your child, be sure to review school guidelines as some require clear ones, some schools place size restrictions on backpacks and others prohibit certain emblems or require specific colors. Rolling backpacks are an option for smaller kids who can’t carry much weight to busy kids who are going to load down their backpacks with books, sports gear and more. A downfall for rolling backpacks is that they get torn up when pulling them up stairs. Another downfall is that some schools won’t allow wheeled backpacks. Looking for a backpack for your child that is environmentally friendly? You can find backpacks made from plastic bottles and other recycled materials enhanced with biodegradable trims. Last but not least, when choosing a backpack, think in terms of how long you expect the child to use the backpack. Do you expect it to last for just one school year or to get them all the way through high school? Backpacks are available in different fabrics with different life expectancies.
