Our Chocolate Lab grew up with our outside cat, and to this day they sleep together at night in the same kennel. Now I'm not saying our Lab won't chase the cat because he does for a real short distance , but its just playful fun. The cat knows this and he knows he's in no danger. I truly beleive they really like each other. I was quite shocked when I found them both in the kennel curled next to each other. The Lab actually made room for the cat.
It depends. If the dog has been brought up with cats around it then it will be fine with them. And it also depends on the breed of dog, terriers may be more aggressive with cats than a Labrador might. Hope this helps.
If you are getting a labrador while it is still a puppy, then yes the dog will usually get along with the cat since they will have grown up together. and it also depends if the cat is used to dogs, if not the cat may run from the dog or attack when the dog is near it and they will not get along. My labrador gets along fine with cats, it the cats that don't particularly like my labrador.
