All those who have lice infestation - Pediculosis - in their hair have nits (eggs of lice).
Nits grow into lice
Nits come first before lice. Nits are the eggs laid by adult female lice, typically attached to the hair shafts close to the scalp. Once the nits hatch, they release young lice, known as nymphs, which then mature into adult lice. Therefore, nits are the initial stage in the life cycle of lice.

Nits or head lice have evolved with mankind over millions of years.
Eggs/Nits
Nits are the egg stage of lice. They attach to the hair and feel bumpy. Lice treatments will destroy the eggs. Follow manufacturer's directions...and quickly!
Nits are the eggs of head lice and are typically found in the hair on the scalp. While body hair can host lice, such as body lice, these insects do not produce nits in the same way that head lice do. Body lice lay their eggs in clothing or bedding rather than directly on body hair. Therefore, you won't find nits on body hair like you would on scalp hair.
