No, in fact the main danger they pose is to boaters, Manatees hear extremely high pitch sound waves and our low pitched motor noises are, in effect, falling on deaf ears leading to high collision rates with a few injuries to both parties (mainly manatees) although the threat posed to boaters in certain regions has been assessed and currently a high frequency sound emitter is being tested for such reasons.

∙ 12y agoManatees are very playful and curious. They are endangered because of their curiosity. When they see a boat propeller, they go up to it to investigate and then they get cut and sometimes killed by it.
