In general, yes. Note, this question may stem from a legal gap, where previously marriages performed in Canada to non-residents whose marriages might not be recognized in their state of residence were not definitely recognized in Canada (eg, marriage of a woman in the US to a woman in Britain). That has since been rectified: all marriages performed in Canada are now legally recognized in Canada.
In general, marriages of U.S. citizens to anyone performed and documented appropriately on foreign soil are also valid on U.S. soil. Also in general, legally binding marriages that were performed in other countries are recognized in the United States.

Both the United States and Mexico recognize marriages performed in other jurisdictions as long as the marriage was legal in the jurisdiction where it was performed. Both countries, however, reserve the right to reject a marriage which is "against public policy" (e.g., incestuous or polygamous marriages). As for same-sex marriages, they are recognized by Mexico and all Mexican states, but not by the federal government in the United States and not by most U.S. states.
Yes. The Attorney General of Maryland issued an opinion on February 24, 2010 stating that Maryland law can recognize same-sex marriages legally performed in other states. This opinion is binding on Maryland state agencies. Same-sex couples will be able to legally marry in Maryland beginning January 1, 2013.
Yes, the U.S. recognizes marriages elsewhere when performed by that country's ligitimate person. I took a class in Domestic Law at Jones School of Law, and that specific question was discussed. Cathy Williams
Marriages are recognized throughout the US. If it is legal in Arkansas, it will be legal in Mississippi.
yeah it is recognised but the proof of burden lies on the party to prove his marriage.
A marriage that is valid and documented in El Salvador would be valid in the US.
Contact the office of the Attorney General in your state of residence in the US. Marriages abroad are recognized in the country in which they are legally performed. Most people have a civil marriage in the US and then travel to a foreign place and have a 'destination' wedding.
Yes they are legal in the US. When my husbands family moved to America his mom and dads marriage was recognized by America and it was legal.
