no, rocks are formed over periods of thousands of years, sometimes, even millions, but this has been going on since the dawn of time, metamorphic rocks are rocks which have been morphed into another type of rock. These rocks were once igneous or sedimentary rocks. The way in which this happens is when the rocks are under a very big amount of pressure, which causes heat build up, resulting in them changing.

This process will outlive a human.

Not exactly. Most metamorphism occurs deep underground. Some also occurs near the surface, but often with different results. There are two types of metamorphism:

  1. Regional - This is very large scale, occurring at high pressure and high temperature. This causes mass transformation. The results are seen much later when uplift occurs and the rock is surfaced. This occurs at a very low depth, or underneath mountain ranges like the Himalayas.
  2. Thermal - This occurs in individual cases. This only requires heat, so it occurs near the surface. It occurs when an igneous intrusion passes close by: not so close that it is melted, but close enough to 'feel' the heat. This may be a huge batholith, a dyke or sill, or a lava flow. Other similar terms are laccolith and pluton.

Most metamorphism, therefore, occurs deep within the Crust, but nonetheless some does happen at the surface.

What are Igneous rocks that cool quickly beneath Earth's crust called?

Igneous rocks that cool quickly beneath earth's crust are known as intrusive rocks. These rocks will form from magma which will cool and solidify quickly.

How is Geothermal Energy easily renewed?

When heat is removed from the hot rocks underground (by cycling water down to them) the rocks renew their heat from the nearby lava and magma. It is very rare that this doesn't happen quickly.
