If krill decreases what will happen to the food chain in Antarctica?

Why you might die if all the animals die?

If the animals die, a chain reaction follows. Lets say you think that mosquitoes are stupid, and you say, "I wish mosquitoes were gone." And then a magical genie comes and grants your wish. Well, bats eat mosquitoes, and other animals eat bats, and other animals eat that animal that eats bats. You see what I mean, eventually all the animals will die of starvation unless they can find another food to satisfy their needs. and if they can't find that food, they die. And then the next animal that ate that animal needs to find an alternative food source, and if they don't find it, they die as well. Then the chain leads to humans, and we would survive for a while on our own food sources. But we would eventually run out of food and starve to death...

Why is bad to kill all of the green stuff in an area?

The "green stuff" is the photosynthesizing part of the area. They are primary producers and make up the base of the food chain. If they are gone, pretty much everything above them on the food chain will have trouble surviving

Why are all parts of the food chain equally important?

All parts of the food chain are important because each level has its own job. The carnivores rely on the omnivores and herbivores for a food source. Even if the lowest level disappears the levels above them would starve and die, because there pray would be gone. Yet if the top level were gone the lower levels would over populate and this would not be good.

Why is it important to preserve variety of life on earth?

Because of food webs and chains. Without one animal gone, the food chain is not complete. The other animals will die out or grow too much. They all help each other.

Why can't food chains go forever?

A food chain can change in a number of different ways, but ultimately, it is because a member of that food chain is removed, or a new member is added into the food chain. For instance, if we have a hypothetical food chain in which the banana tree produces bananas, which are eaten by monkeys, which are in turn eaten by hawks. If the banana stops producing bananas (due to environmental reasons), thus the banana tree is removed from the food chain and the monkeys will have nothing to eat. The monkeys will die out, and soon the hawks will have nothing to eat as well.Another example would be if eagles were introduced into the food chain. Due to a migratory change, eagles find themselves in the same place as our hypothetical food chain, and begin competing with the hawks for food. Because they both eat monkeys, sooner or later, the monkey population will be hunted to the point of extinction. Because of that, both eagles and hawks will end up starving once the monkey population is gone.
