I recommend NOT using one intended for kitchen use it can be a mess to clean. Rig one out of old pans, coffee cans, or whatever you may have around. I used two old, aluminum camping pots that I had sitting in the basement.

Aluminum Potassium sulfate (Alum) can be purchased in any grocery store on the spice isle. It comes in the little spice containers and can be easy to over look. You may be able to buy it in a larger size container, but I have yet to find it in anything but the small containers. In Australia it is not so readily available, however aussie-alum-supplies.com.au sell from 100g up to 20kg bags.
