There are many different beliefs about owls in many cultures. Some believe them to be extremely powerful at seeing through deception either in others or oneself. They can see in the dark and therefore they have the ability to see it all. It is also believed that their feathers have very powerful healing attributes. Although I have read that one should never place the owl feather directly touching the skin as it will push the issue deeper, but rather run the feather an inch above the body. Owls are known to be wise souls in many cultures, as answer 1 pointed out. However there are many cultures that see them as evil and bad omen bringers. One Native American tribe for instance, The Apaches, are one that do not see them as a good thing. To them they represent death. So is the owl a bad omen? It will depend on who you are talking to and their upbringing and culture. I carry owl medicine, so for me, it is always a good omen when I see or hear one.
