Pembroke Welsh Corgis love people. Mine especiaally loves children. They do have a tendency to nip at people's heels, but this is generally an attempt to herd them (they are a breed of heelers), not an act of aggression. If addressed early, they can be easily trained out of it. Like many small dogs, they have a tendency to want to jump up on people, and must be trained not to do this . . . especially since the average corgi's front paw will be right at kneecap level when they jump.
Corgi's love people and form a particularly strong bond with their family members. They can be stand-offish to strangers if they are not socialized often but generally are very social animals.

∙ 12y agoYes they can be very good with children of all ages provided the dogs were socialized and introduced to children early on while they were little puppies. They tend to do better with older children. They are not as safe around children like a pug or lab would be, but aren't a threat either. If a disrespectful child is hitting a Corgi in the face or pulling its ears or something like that, he will nip at him.

∙ 14y agoNot particularly. Generally the smaller the bred of dog the more likely it is to be aggressive. Spaniels and gundogs (particularly retrievers) usually have a gentler temperament

The Corgi were bred for sheep/cattle herding. In fact, some are still used in Wales as herding animals. A pet Corgi will show this skill as well. I had a friend who bred them and when her children were young the Corgi she had would herd her children in the back yard. They are very good at this skill.As an aside: At one time, I lived in a household with five (yes, five) cats and one Australian shepherd. The dog would herd the cats from room to room, and back again, on a regular basis.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis, despite their short limbs, can be quite fast. This is because they run with their spines and trunk more than their legs. A fit and trim corgi can reach about 23 mph in a sprint on clear, level ground. That's actually slightly faster than the average across all dog breeds. They're not terribly good jumpers, though.

Neither is better than the other. It all depends upon your lifestyle and the type of dog that best suits you. Cardigan Welsh Corgis usually are more stockier than Pembrokes. The biggest difference that the general public sees is that Cardigans have tails and Pembrokes do not. But they both are separate breeds coming from separate lines. Cardigans come from the Teckel family (where Dachshunds and Basset's are from) while Pembrokes come from the Spitz family. Cardigans are less social than Pembrokes, have more coat, are slightly taller and a bit more calmer. Pembrokes are extremely social (they've never met a stranger), are smaller and have a more energy than Cardigans. Both need good socialization, daily grooming and a good run every day.

Off of websites or from local breeders. It is a good idea to look at the Kennel Club web site to find registered reputable breeders or through the Welsh Corgi League. There are a lot of puppy farms which over breed dogs with health problems - stay away.

it depends how old there are and how much the owner sells them for. I got mine for $175 and $350. It really depends on where you are geographically and how good and reputable the breeder is. If you are buying puppies here in the United States from a reputable breeder, you will pay anywhere from $1,000-$2500 depending on if your in the North or South. The quality of the dog also plays a major factor. A fluffy will go for the least, while a show level dog that you can breed will be at the high end.
