However, films are still being made, notably the Sherlock Holmes film of 2009 which is to be followed by a sequel in December of 2011 and the BBC series "Sherlock", setting Sherlock Holmes in moder day London, was released in 2010 and the next series will follow in 2012.

It is a modern adaptation, set in 21st century London. Series 2 will be coming to BBC1 soon. I recommend it. It's very good, some people even think it may be better than the Jeremy Brett version. Also an American TV broadcaster called CBS are planning on making a modern Sherlock Holmes. Obviously they didn't copy the idea at ALL.
