Polyps are not producers because they have sticky little arms and inside those sticky arms there is thin thread. It has poison in it so it can shock the prey and it will be easy to feed itself. For example, a shrimp comes by ( a shrimp is a living thing by the way ) and the polyp uses the thin thread to poison the shrimp, and takes the sticky arms and puts the shrimp in the mouth. It is a consumer because it is a living thing that eats another living thing. :)
