Ponies come in many different breeds, like Connemaras, POA's, Shetlands, etc. Some breeds allow for lots of different colors, others say purebreds are only acceptable if they have a certain coloration/marking. As a whole though, ponies can be chestnuts but aren't all chestnuts. Ponies are really just horses less than 14.3 hands, so they share many characteristics including coloration.
