Blood tests are actually more accurate in recent times. However, mistakes are made. If there is any question regarding a blood test, it would be best to have a retest. If the results are the same as the first test, it is almost a certainty that the results are accurate.
Not always, but it's very rare that it wouldn't be. The only ways you could have a false positive is:
1 You either gave birth or had a miscarriage in the past 8 weeks, that would give you a false positive.
2 Your taking prescription drugs like Pregnyl or Profasi
3 You have a rare medical condition. Sometimes this can give you a false result too.
If none of that fits, then your up the duff!
I'm being treated with chemotherapy for cancer. Yesterday I was tested with ANC 374. Today they called and said they double checked and it is actually 72. WHAT THE? If these tests determine if I get treatment on treatment days, this really shakes my confidence in their results. Are they going to kill me? What margin of error can be expected from a blood test?
Please talk to your doctor and find out more and also find out why the 2 different results. You need to get to the bottom of this for your own peace of mind. Make him explain things in terms that you can understand and tell him to make it as simple as possible.
Without more information, it can be hard to determine the margin of error because different labs have different sets of ranges. The normal range for the ANC = 1,500 to 8,000. After chemotherapy or radiation the ANC is usually depressed and then slowly rises, reflecting the fact that the bone marrow is recovering and new blood cells are beginning to grow and mature.
A "safe" ANC is 500-1500; a low ANC is less than 500.
No, they are not always correct. The most reliable ones are blood tests at the doctor's. False negatives are quite common but false positives are very rare.
no.
There are always pregnancy tests that can show up negative and you can still be pregnant. The best thing to do is check with your doctor and ask for a pregnancy test. Remember though even the doctor's test can even be wrong. There is not one single pregnancy test that is always 100% correct.
there is always an error factor but with a blood test you can be pretty sure its correct.
No a pregnancy test is not always accurate or correct. If a woman's hormones are spiked they can potential show positive results that are false.
I think that you should take a pregnancy test when you think you are pregnant, or when you feel something in your tummy.
No, even pregnancy tests have errors sometimes.
you can never be sure with a home pregnancy test, you can do that, but the only definite way is to see a doctor
No , they are about 99% accurate :)
yes

Yes. Sometimes pregnancy tests are not 100% correct. Even if the second test comes out negative I would recommend that you go see your doctor. They can just give you a pregnancy test there and then you will know for sure. :)
You can take a pregnancy test from two weeks after you have had sex.A pregnancy test is always the main way to identify when you're pregnant.
