The Pyrenean Desman is a species of semi-aquatic, noctournal mammal similar to moles and shrews. They live primarily in northern Spain because they are nearly extinct in the south. Habitat changes such as dam building are probably responsible. The IUCN lists this species is Vulnerable, which means that it is threatened, but one level above Endangered.
