This is a silly question, of course they're predators! All pythons are carnivorous (i.e. meat-eating). Meat doesn't grow on trees. It is not uncommon for captive-bred snakes to dine exclusively on frozen-thaw meals (mice, rats, etc) that have been properly prepared. In this sense, I guess you could say that these snakes aren't really hunting live prey, but if you've ever watched a snake eat a frozen-thaw mouse they do still stalk it before grabbing it.
