With the fact of their high speed of running they have lived through the Bubonic Plague. They have developed are smart sense and and navigate using smell. They might not know or care for names they can tell them selves from mice. Mice are smaller and dull faces. They are very small maybe about half of the size of a rat. Rats are unarguable smarter than us they have lived longer than humans they where here before us and scientists predict they will be here lot longer than we will be. So as I said rats and mice are smart.
