A crude oil refinery is a factory. The factory takes the crude oil, and turns it into useful products, like gasoline.
Materials can be said to fall into two broad categories - hydrophyllic (they like to get wet with water) and oleophilic (they like to get wet with oil). To clean an oil spill you need a material that likes to get wet with oil, doesn't like to get wet with water and floats in either material. Hay, cellulose, some plastics and many other materials meet these criteria. Part of the trouble with these materials is that they can start out as good oil absorbers but pick up a lot of crud with the oil that makes it sink. In addition the material has to be put into the oily re in a form that allows easily removable when it reaches its capacity.
Check the oil for coolant ot the coolant for oil. It will be a yellowish colored crud. The car will probably overheat too.

Colic is a generic term for abdominal pain. An impaction is when fecal material becomes so hard and inflexible that the intestines cannot move the material down the system and it becomes trapped. Impaction colic is a serious medical condition that needs immediate treatment. Sometimes fluids, mineral oil and hand-walking is enough to break up the impacted material and allow things to move again. Otherwise, the horse will need surgery to remove the impacted material.
Crude oil has varying degrees of crud in it, but it's mainly hydrocarbons.
