Red foxes are not dangerous to humans, although, like any wild animal, it is important to give it enough space. It does have sharp teeth, and if it feels like you are attacking it, a fox could bite you (although the injuries would not be life threatening).

When they have rabies, a disease (which humans can catch by being bitten by the fox)

where white froth will come out of it's mouth and it's fur will look matted. This is a serious case - if you happen to find one, do not approach the fox, stand still because foxes are fast, it will bite - and if you have a phone, call a local animal hospital/care centre or if you have no phone shout for help.

The worst case - if you get bitten - you will have to have medication quickly.

The red fox does not attack humans, but I have heard it is a carrier of rabies. Do not let a wild fox bite you.
