A resistor and a diode are not the same. A resistor reduces the amount of current going through a wire. It turns current into heat. A resistor does the same thing wherever it is be it in a radio or an electric stove. An element in an electric stove that you have seen glowing red is a great big resistor. The element in an electric light bulb is a resistor. A diode contains is a material that only allows electricity to pass through in one direction. They are not the same. However, when an engineer builds a radio circuit, there are problems between theory and practice. A resistor not only reduces the amount of current but causes impedance. A capacitor not only carries capacitance but also has a degree of resistance. A diode not only makes the current flow in one direction but has a certain amount of resistance in the process. After the engineer has designed the circuit, he builds it. Then because the parts have all different characteristics besides the expected ones, he tweaks it until it works.
No... Diode block one way... resistor block eitherway.
no
A: Actually a transistor have two diode with the base mas a common terminal. the characteristics of these tow diodes however are not the same as a common diode
its the simplest thing to do. There are three legs in a transistor, one each of collector, base and emitter. So if you need to use it as a diode, just connect either collector-base or emitter-base. Say, if you use an NPN transistor, then the base region will be the anode of diode and emitter or collector will be the cathode of the diode.
A: If you have a ramp generator or make one LM555 then feed it to the zener don' t forget the limiting resistor with the scope across the zener the display will dhow its voltage and current characteristics. you can do the same for a diode even a transistor and more.
A: TTL-DTL-RTL are family of gates called by the name. Example TTL means Tran. trans. logic. It refers to the inputs for these gates as the type. T= Transistor D=Diode R=Resistor While they do perform the same function their characteristics in performance varies greatly.
None. A diode does not have a resistor in it. Diodes and resistors are different devices used for different purposes. For example, increasing current flow through a resistor increases the voltage drop across the resistor. Increasing current flow through a diode (within the diode's capabilities, just the same as a resistor) will actually decrease the voltage drop across the diode (once the diode "turns on" this voltage variance will be fairly small, though).
Could be a disconnected wire, bad ground, a break in the wire (inside the insulation). Are they one and the same (a radio with a clock on it)? Could be the component died (bad transistor, diode, faulty soldering, etc).
You get two transistors and put them in a radio.
you cannot PNP-NPN looks the same but with a meter it is possible to check diode continuity therefore ascertain the type
It is always better to remove a component from the circuit for proper testing but most of the time a resistor can be tested with a DMM set to the appropriate ohm scale, the same with a diode where the DMM is set to diode setting. A transistor is more complicated, you first have to find the base connector and with your DMM set to diode, NPN Transistor, with negative probe to the base and positive to emitter or collector the smallest reading will be the collector and the slightly higher reading will be the emitter, no reading mean that it can be a PNP transistor then you will need to swap your probes, still no reading or a very low reading will mean the transistor is damaged In actuality tektronics do make a curve tracer oscilloscope to test active components . But the speed is very limited. So while it may tell you that the part is good or bad it will not tell you how good or how bad it will function in the actual circuit
No. A diode can not be used as a transistor. A diode allows electricity to flow in one direction like a one way street. A transistor works the same way as putting a stop light in the one way street. It lets electricity flow at certain times and keeps electricity from flowing at certain times. Of course a diode only works when electricity is there to flow just like a one way street only works when there are cars there to ride through it.
