The New Japanese Skylines are illegal in the U.S because it is still a Japanese converted spec not available for use in the U.S and therefore not street legal.
skylines are legal to an extent. The r33's were crash tested and are eligable to be exported into the states if your willing to pay for them ect. the r32 and r34's are not unless someone is willing to go through the steps to get them. The r32 will be legal and you will not have to get them up to DOT standards when they become a classic at 25 years of age.
its not illegal if u do the modification. japan has different safety rules so all you have to do is change a couple of things for it to pass the emission test then its street legal
