YES. Slingshots are banned in NJ. There is no license you can obtain. Mere possession is a crime. So too are all knives that have locking or fixed blades without regard for length. They are only allowed in homes or as part of one's vocation. So when the LEO says to step out of the car, leave the knife in the car. The courts in NJ and elsewhere have held over and over again that all locking or fixed blades are dangerous instrumentalities meant for stabbing.

In NJ all firearms & other devices that can propel a projectile are banned outright. The state has made exceptions for certain hunting weapons and weapons that are maintained and kept in homes. But those are statutory exceptions to a total ban.

In slingshotforums.com its stated its legal to own slingshots in Utah with the exception of Salt Lake City Utah. Maybe its a Mormon thing.
