Are solar cars useful

While it would be nice if they were- they are not. First, you cannot change the laws of physics- there is simply not enough solar energy falling on a car to produce large amounts of power. Secondly, the sun does not shine on rainy days, or at night. There have been experimental solar powered cars that were scaled down lightweight slow moving cars, and traditional cars that had VERY large solar collectors (billboard sized) that charged batteries in the "solar" car. As far as pollution, remember that making solar cells and batteries can be a major source of pollution.
