No, it is not a type-- unless you consider a mutt a type of dog.

A staffy cross is just that-- A dog that is mixed with Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and some other unknown dog. This dog is considered a mongrel, mutt, cur, or a mixed breed, whichever term you prefer.
