Depends on how soft the dirt is. For street (which is a hard surface) you want a fairly smooth tread pattern, but for dirt (which is usually softer) you usually want knobblier tires with more sticking-out bits that can dig into the surface for good traction.

Norco manik vs kona five-o?

The Kona is much more versatile. I have a kona right now actually an 08 model and its working out for me great, its really good on dirt jumps yet it has street tires and handles some trails and urban stuff too. I actually just came off a manik, i also liked it but it was horrible for dirt jumps and it was alot heavier, cant go wrong with the kona.

Depends on the track mainly but cutting proper grooves in your tires is a good start

Why was the dirt bike invented?

for funThey make dirt bikes to ride in rugged terrain. To this end they more than likely have knobby tires, which aren't street-legal in most places, no turn signals that might get caught on trees or damaged in a fall, less restrictive exhausts that don't meet clean air statutes and no passenger accomodations.Any bike can be ridden as a dirt bike, often with horrible consequences, but a dirt bike is designed to be good at being off the road and a street bike isn't.

Is sandy loam dirt good for bmx jumps?

Yes sandy loam will work well for a bmx jump just remember if your making small or ever larger dirt jumps you need a good foundation and supports throughout the jump. I've found very helpful that if your jump is under 4 feet tall that stacking even cut logs like a pyramid will work. after that pour a lot of dirt over it, and ALWAYS pack in the dirt very well.

Spare tires need spare tire covers so they stay in good condition. A spare tire won't be good if it's covered in dust or dirt or if its cracked from too much heat or cold.

What makes radial tires different?

Radial tires are better for freeway/street driving. They grip the pavement better and have better gas mileage. Cross ply tires are good for off-roading and any other kind of rough travelling.

What are the differences between off road tires and regular tires?

The differences are the size and the purpose. Regular tires are made to grip the asphalt, and also fitted with grooves to push water away, keeping it from hydroplaning. The off road tires are thicker, and the grooves are much deeper, giving it the ability to have good traction in the dirt and rocks.
