Possums are nocturnal because that is when they can see and smell better. I also think that is when their predators are not out hunting. Possums usually rest or sleep in their habitat [trees] during the daytime.

yes they are noctornal and don't come out in the day unless they are not wild and even then they don't like the light

you betchya, a baby one came in the garage 2 nights ago, at 10 o'clock, and was eating the cat food, , just like it lived here. Then last night it came back across the patio heading for more food. (I scared it away the first night.). now i have to close the doors before dark or I'll have the whole family here.
