Swans are herbivores. Most swans feed on algae and water weeds. Some swans also eat insects, but only because the insects are on the vegetation they consume, so strictly speaking, they are not omnivores.

In general swans are herbivores, but unlike other birds, they have small jagged 'teeth' and thus are able to catch small fish
