Two blankets are better than one, because they provide more warmth, shelter, etc.
I personally believe that cotton sheets are better than silk sheets because they are comfortable, less expensive and most importantly easier to clean!

Brett Lorimer I think its more to do with air pockets not layers, I was in Norway in -40 degress in the army and the best equipment we had was fishnet long johns! full of airpockets and toasty! British Issue stuff was layered but no air pockets.
Wool holds in body moisture and insulates from cold, keeping you warm. Cotton absorbs moisture and does not insulate well.
No, a bed doesn't really need a duvet but it's a nice option to have one. They are warm and the bed is easier to make than if you have sheets, comforter and blankets.
Buy this best sheets you can afford, do not buy anything less than 300 count. They last forever.... Buy sheets and blankets that you really, really like, color-wise ect. You never get tired of them....spend your money then on other things.
Yes they are because some chemicals used to make sheets can be more harmful to a baby than they would be to an adult.
