Hello, I am an older teacher in charge of a private school at a youth psychological treatment facility. We can place our hands on a student and we are to carry a student if need be. If we "drag" a student it would have to be the result of an unusual situation. At a public school, generally ... if a student has not caused harm to self or others a teacher is not to touch a student. An administrator can escorts a student at any time. To touch a child based on the notion that it appeared they were going to cause harm to self or others is generally not valid, but given certain circumstances can be justified. To "drag", would be unusual and difficult to justify. There are safe ways to restrain a student while back up arrives to transport the student by carrying or escorting. Thank you .
