The Western Ghats or the Sahyadri are the ranges of hills parallel to the western coast of India starting from Gujarat right upto Kerala. The ghats are hill ranges on the top of which starts the Deccan Plateau

Likewise the Eastern Ghats are the ranges of hills that raise from near the coast on the Eastern Coast of India.

Both the Western and Eastern Ghats are thickly forested and most part of these ghats have been declared as bio diversity hot spots of the world and are home to many species of birds, animals, insects and flora and fauna
