It depends upon what you mean by "spiritual". Freemasonry normally requires its members to have a belief in a Supreme Being (i.e. God), makes frequent references to revealed scripture, teaches reverence and other virtues expected of religious people, and starts and ends its meetings with prayers. If this constitutes being a spiritual group, then yes, Freemasons are one. But the discussion of the pros and cons of any religion or religious sect, and the use of religious language which might offend someone of another religion is strictly forbidden. Freemasonry does not endorse any particular view of the nature of God, any plan of salvation, any doctrines about what is or isn't scripture or any matter of a dogmatic nature. The prayers are non-sectarian, and constitute the only mandated behaviour which might be akin to worship. If these facts means that Freemasonry is not a spiritual group, then it isn't.

Yes and no. Freemasons are not a religion- but we do not accept members that do not believe in God. We are a fraternal organization of good men that ask for the blessings of God.

Are the freemasons against the illuminatis?

The Illuminati do not exist. They were a short-lived, very small, and insignificant group who existed several centuries ago. The idea of a modern Illuminati group is fiction. Freemasonry does not interest itself in this fictional group at all, and the historical group is not of particular interest to Freemasons either.

Are the Free Masons and the Mason of today the same group?

Yes. The group originally was called Freemasons and they are a fraternal organization. There have been Freemasons in America for more than 250 years. But the term "Freemason" evidently was considered too long, and it began to be abbreviated as just "Masons." Either is correct.
