No the Tarsier is still living on a number of islands in the Pacific. There are four islands in the Philippines where the Philippine Tarsier can be found and there is also the pigmy and a relative of the Philippine arsier living in Indonesia. There are also a number of other countries that say the Tarsier is still present. The Tarsier is protected in the Philippines and one of the best places to see it is the island of Bohol where there is a Tarsier sanctuary and research is going on to help protect the species. There is also a new reserve on the island of Mindanao between General Santos City and KoronadalTarsier UK
Only a female Tarsier can reproduct. Same as human, the sperm cell of a male tarsier will go to the egg cell of the female tarsier.
The Pygmy Marmoset's body length ranging from 14 to 16 centimetres (5.5 to 6.3 in) (excluding the 15-to-20-centimetre (5.9 to 7.9 in) tail).[4] Males weigh around 140 grams (4.9 oz), and females only 120 grams (4.2 oz). On the other hand the Tarsier's body range from 10 to 15 cm in length, but the hind limbs are about twice this long (including the feet), and they also have a slender tail from 20 to 25 cm long.
Tagalog translation of tarsier: tarsier
There are different types of Tarsier coming from different places. The Philippines tarsier for instance comes from the..... wait for it. The Philippines. The Spectral Tarsier and the Pigmy Tarsier can be found in Indonesia for instance. However prior to 1900 there were records of Tarsiers on most of the Northern and mid Pacific islands, the mainland of China, Thialand etc and I have even been told that they were possibly present in Australia, India and parts of East Africa. Don't know of any documented evidence of that though. Now they are confinded to about three or four island in the Philippine chain, Indonesia and two other countries in that area.
The Pygmy Marmoset, while not classified as endangered, is considered to be at risk due to habitat loss and fragmentation, primarily from deforestation in their native rainforest habitats of South America. Their population is affected by illegal pet trade and environmental changes. Conservation efforts are important to ensure their survival, but they are currently listed as "Least Concern" by the IUCN. Nonetheless, ongoing monitoring of their populations and habitats is essential.
Pigmy Love Circus was created in 1986.
