Are the games of thrones novels easy to follow?

Short answer: yes, they're easy to follow, especially if you watch or have watched part of the television series.

Long answer: This is personal opinion. I am an avid reader of many things. I am currently in the third Games of Thrones book, three months after receiving a boxed set as a gift. (During the past three months I have read 10-15 other books, including a J. Archer in under 24 hours.)

Each chapter is clearly labelled with who it is about (Arya, Bran, Catelyn, Danearys, etc.) but you are constantly skipping from place to place and person to person. The third book warns you that some things are happening simultaneously, so you may have several chapters dealing with the same event but from different points of view. This can be confusing if one of the characters mentioned happens to be dead. (You, the reader, have this information, but keeping track of who knows and who doesn't can be confusing.) They are well-writtten (again, opinion, but I am a teacher) but very dense. There is a LOT of information to process. Each book also includes information in the back about the major families and who is supported by which lesser groups.
