There are some people out there who seem totally convinced that the Halloween movies are based on a true story, and I'm guessing they have confused you. Well, they're wrong.

Next time someone tells you the Halloween movies are a true story, ask them to provide some evidence. They won't be able to, because there is none. Instead, they'll say, "My grandpa told me it's true" or "My friend Katie in 6th grade said it's true." It's always, "I heard it was true." Never, "I read a newspaper article about the real crimes" or "I read a book about the real crimes."

There are no newspaper stories or books about the real crimes, because it's a completely fictional story.
