Newfoundlanders are allowed to join the Canadian Forces.
Women have served in the military since 1885. At first they were only allowed to be nurses. During WW1, they filled many other roles, including drivers. Combat ranks opened to women in 1989 and warships allowed women aboard 1991. In 2006, Capt. Nichola Goddard was the first woman killed in active combat.

Become a Canadian citizen. Not trying to be crass here, it's just the option you're limited to. Unlike the UK, which allows citizens of all Commonwealth countries (and Ireland) join its military, such a policy doesn't exist with the Canadian Forces (technically, there is no Canadian Army - their entire military is a single branch). When I was in the Canadian Army 10 years ago, there were 5 branches. I have met a few Brits and an Australian who were members of the Canadian Forces. It was easier for them to do so because they were from Commonwealth countries so background check can be done. They still had to become Canadian citizens and have completed high school with College and or university as a definate asset. No criminal record either. For non-commonwealth people, you would have to have citizenship for at least 10 years, same education, no criminal record. And a lot of luck. I suspect, with the military and the world state being what it is, it would be even harder to get in if not impossible.
The political people of Newfoundland were all for confedersation - it was the population that didn't want it. The population didn't see how they would benefit from the trade with the other colonies. Newfoundland's main export was fish, like Nova Scotia's. Nova Scotia was closer to the other colonies, so it'd be easier for these colonies to buy fish from N.S. Also, because NL was so far away from the mainland, many people were concerned that they would end up paying taxes to build a railway they'd never use. (We're doing this is history right now :D)
No.
A person who was born in another country, but is now a Canadian CITIZEN, can apply to join the Canadian Forces.
Absolutely not.
As long as you are a Canadian citizen, the forces aren't racist. Anyone can join as long as they are ready for it :)
They were allowed to join the Womens Reserves
no......... you have to be Canadian citizen........and if you are not Canadian citizen at the moment you are applying but you want to join army then you can join forces and when you become citizen go into university
Unfortunately, you must be a legal Canadian citizen to be able to join.
If you pass a medical inspection, yes.
I would say that if you're Canadian, you should support your own troops by joining the Canadian military, and if you're British you should join the British Forces.
No unless they could disguise them selves
Yes and they can be open about it. Spouses (married or common-law) are also recognized by the Canadian Forces so they can receive benefits and support too.
In the Canadian Forces, yes. In the US Army, you need parental consent to join at 17, but you can't join at 16.
