Some use favourite toys or treats to maintain the dogs focus. Any breed can perform agility, and have the potential to perform it well. Though to answer your question more directly, on average, Golden Retrievers do well in agility due to there high energy levels, eagerness to please, and natural speed and grace (afterall they were bred as working dogs). Additionally, there high intelligence makes them fast learners. Once again though it all boils down to the dogs personality. Agility isnt for every canine.
