spitfire
The Spitfire was a British fighter plane of WW2. It was a sleek, all aluminium monoplane with a 12 cylinder Rolls Royce Merlin engine.
Many Spitfire PR XIX models had the upgraded Mk VII wing and an extra fuselage tank. These aircraft had a range of 900-1,000 miles.
The Spitfire did not hold any bombs. It was a dedicated interceptor fighter.
Spitfire and Hurricane.
Early Spitfires could do about 320 mph, they were powered by Merlin engines which then were about 950 hp. The Merlin, and the Spitfire were in constant development throughout WW2 and by 1946, versions of the Spitfire were flying at over 460 mph with almost 2,200 hp from the Griffon engine (an improvement of the Merlin.)
Allies used the spitfire, typhoon, mustang, and flying foretress Axis used he-111 and Me-262
normally the spitfire was just called spitfire and the the mark E.G spitfire Mk XI
1. First fold a paper aeroplane. 2. Draw a spitfire design on the plane. 3. Add any additional bits (making sure your spitfire isn't too heavy).
The very first Spitfire flew at around 345 mph, but that was with a Merlin 'C' of 1,045 hp and a 2 blade prop. By mid-war they were flying at over 435 mph with 1.700 hp Merlins with 4 and 5 blade props.
The Spitfire and Hurricane were both very famous, but the Spitfire more so. Let's not forget the Lancaster and Halifax bombers and the long-range Sunderland flying-boat! There were others, too (e.g. Mosquito) but these will do for now.
