Apparently, there were three distinct groups of the Jumanos living in three regions of Texas, Old Mexico, and Old Mexico. The first group lived along the Rio Grande and Rio Concho rivers in West Texas, Old Mexico, and New Mexico. The second group lived in the Southern Plains of Texas. The third group lived between the Rio Grande and New Mexico. The Jumanos were noted for wearing tattoos. The Spanish identified any tattoo Native American were from the Jumano tribe. The Jumano tribe lived in Texas, where no Western Red Cedar trees grow.Since it is these huge Pacific coast trees that were made into totem poles, the Jumano can not have made totem poles, nor did any other tribes in the Americas - just those on the north-west coast of the USA and the west coast of Canada.
