Depends on the gun. Simple mass produced firearms may be made at the rate of hundreds each day. Custom, handmade firearms may take a year or more of work.

I know of at least 3 gun firms were located in mass.They were the cresent firearms company,located at chicopee falls MA.Then savage arms corp were made in mass.for a while.And last smith and wesson firearms were made in Mass.There are probably more,but that is all that comes to mind at this time.
They are still being mass produced by Ruger. Which, like most firearm manufactures in the U.S., are overloaded with orders from private buyers. You can't buy most firearms directly from the manufacturer anymore without wating everal months. Remington is currently 6 months behind. But there will be many more produced as other companies are looking to buy the rights to produce the many versions of this firearm as well as Ruger.

Not necessarily. The mass of a container is determined by the material it is made of, not its volume. A larger volume container made of the same material will have a greater mass due to more material being present.
