I have yet to find a single serial killer that didn't display at least a couple of the warning signs, those being:bed wetting, cruelty to animals, fire starting, these are the most common.
The McDonald Triad first written about by J.M. McDonald in the Journal of Psychiatry, found three 'red flags' in the childhood of many serial killers. These flags were as follows: bed wetting, fire starting and cruelty to animals. It should be noted that many children may experience any one of these behaviours yet grow up to be normal, well-adjusted adults, or may experience all of these behaviours yet still not become a serial killer. But these behaviours are the common denominators in many serial killers. They can serve as a warning and hopefully if heeded in time, may prevent tragedy in the future adult lives of troubled children.
