The majority of Laptops on the market as of June 2012 contain a removable DVD drive as standard. For a few years it has been common for even the cheap budget laptops to contain an optical drive that could read DVDs but could only write to a CD, but now even the most budget laptops contain a DVD writer as standard.
The Smaller Net-book computers and some of the New Mac Book laptop models seem to be some of the few exceptions to this by containing no optical drive at all.
Although DVD drives are now being replaced in most of the top end models of Laptop with a Blue-Ray dive, as these are backwards compatible with DVD drives it could be argued that they also still do contain a removable DVD drive.
External DVD drives are obtainable for laptops. Many of them are slimline portable models especially suitable for traveling. They are useful for backing up data or watching DVD movies on ultra-slim laptops which do not come with an internal DVD drive.
Yes, but they are extraordinarily expensive.

Removable Media means Portable media that you can put into a computer and remove like CDs, DVDs and Flash Drives. NON-removable media is like the HDD (hard disk drive) hope that helps
Yes. Data can be stored to removable media such as flash drives, Floppy Disks, Cd's and DVD's.
The Velocity Micro Slot Loading DVD/CD player sold by Costco is an external drive that fits this description. Most slot loading dvd/cd drives are made for high end laptops however they are available for any application.
In my experience, the laptops have slower drives in terms of read speed.
No, the + and - are two different DVD formats. Compare it to VHS and Betamax, they're similar media, but use different methods of data storage. Nowadays most DVD drives can use both, but it used to be the case that there were DVD+ drives that could only use DVD+R, etc.
No. Many older laptops' drives cannot burn CDs. The Macbook Air does not even contain a CD / DVD drive, let alone one capable of writing. Similarly, most ASUS Eee PC models do not have a CD / DVD drive.
Yes
Computers used to have separate drives for putting in a CD and Playing a DVD. Now, especially with Laptops, Most Computers and Laptops have a multifunction unit in which both DVD'S and CD'S can be read, but again, some computers still do have separate drives, purely because the performance is better, e.g. A CD may upload better onto iTunes for example in A CD drive rather than a CD/DVD drive.
Removable storage media refers to CD's, DVD's, Floppy discs, USB drives. Non-removeable storage media refers to RAM, and Hard Drives. So where the storage media's are found depends upon which you are 'talking' about; but generally non-removable inside the computer, removable outside of the computer.
