You need to contact the people who handle this in East Bay. It is either the department of Social Services or welfare. You will find the number in the phone book.
In Oregon, those lists are divided by counties. This is probably the case in California. If you will leave the county name on my message board, I'll be happy to help with this.
If your name has been removed from the waiting list of the Housing Authority in your jurisdiction, you may have to wait until that waiting list is open again, to try to get your name added to it.
No, they say it will be open in 5 years.

There's probably a waiting list. But if you are eligible for it , the sooner you get on it the sooner you get to the top.
I posted this question so that it would have an answer to the questions most people ask on this forum. There is no way of knowing what Housing Authority has a waiting list open or when they will open. This is because the housing authorities are required to publish an article in the newspaper of their area to allow the public to know that the waiting list is open. And public housing authorities do not give notices too far in advance that a waiting list will open. In addition to the answer provided above, the location of the country must be considered, also.
There are a couple of different section 8 waiting lists that are open in Georgia. The first one is called The DCA Rental Assistance Program. The second one is called Clarion Housing.
We are unable to provide telephone numbers. Check with the local housing authority in any jurisdiction in which you are seeking an open waiting list status.
A Section 8 Waiting List is a list of people who have made a preliminary application to be placed on such list from a public housing authority. Each PHA maintains its own waiting list and periodically peruses that list every year or two, to see if the applicants on such list are still interested.
I think you can still put an application into LA County. I found some links to a section 8 application at <a href="http://section8programs.com>Section8programs.com.
Are there any section 8 openings in California.
Yes! Check with all of the counties in your state. Use the HUD.gov site and Section8programs.com to find a Section 8 application and open waiting lists. You can also Google your local housing authority and ask them.
