As darkness shrouded the entrance hall

for everyone to see,

a feeling fell on one and all

of woe, some misery,

Down the hall, behind the door

of the abandoned mine,

a woman screams, "forevermore,"

for the child she called mine.

The child passed a while ago,

many years before.

The child died, as you should know,

behind that very door.

He went inside to explore

the empty tunnels there,

and now will feel nevermore

the wind blow through his hair.

Many people have gone to try

to soothe the woman's shriek,

but run when they hear the woman's cry

as she touches her child's dead cheek.

The earth closed round the frightened boy

as he was in the mine,

taking the woman's pride and joy

and crossing the final line.

Destroying the woman's sanity

as she lay in her bed,

and with utmost serenity

put the gun to her head.

Thus ending her very life

to join her only son,

but suicide causes strife,

thus the screaming had begun.

It's only heard in darkness

by those who stop to hear.

The woman's woeful sadness

ringing in their ear.

Whatever the people try,

it never seems to phase

the woman's endless cry

for never-ending days.

In her tomb she's lonely,

it's more that she can bear

wishing, for once, if only

someone would place flowers there.

For none remember her name,

none are left to love,

the woman all the same

to help her rise above.

She's stuck down here on Earth,

lonely and afraid,

losing all self worth,

screaming like a shade.

Though the woman's sorrow

will never fade away,

the sun will rise tomorrow

and begin a brand new day.

The world will continue moving,

regardless of her pain.

Her screams will end up fading

to the background, like the rain.
