Of course. There already have already been black people in his cabinet from his first term (Eric Holder as Attorney General, for example), and several major government agencies were headed by black people, such as Lisa Jackson, who was in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Ron Kirk, who served as U.S. Trade Representative. The president has also had Asian and Hispanic members of the cabinet, and members of his advisory team are from a variety of ethnicities. We may reasonably assume that he will have other minority cabinet and major agency members during his second term.
Helped blacks
There were no black presidents before Obama!
Well...Barack Obama went to college for sure... n i will go for Jackson too
close, but no cigar, 1)there are still ppl racist to blacks(hence the reason there was a plot to kill barack and why the KKK still excist) 2)there are other minorites that have been discriminated against other than blacks but this country has taken a step closer
No one truly knows how many voted for Barack Obama because of his race, so one can only make a wild guess towards the matter. One guess would be that the same amount of people who voted for Barack Obama because of his race is equivalent to the amount of people who voted against him because of it.
That depends on what society you are talking about. Obama is very popular with blacks and Hispanics , especially with women. The majority of white men are not favorably impressed with his work as President.
Public schools for blacks were poorly funded and inferior to white schools in the same school districts. The facilities were not are good and most of the teachers were not as well-qualified.
In 2008, 98% of black voters voted to elect Barack Obama as president (some sources said 97%). In the 2012 election, 96% of black voters voted for Mr. Obama.
I call it The New Negro Rule, and this comes from a stand up special by Damon Wayans. It is special rules that apply to Negroes that don't apply to whites. For example, when Blacks were fighting for the right to vote and the requirement was that all you had to do was to be able to read. Blacks were given things to read in foreign languages, so since The Blacks could not read it they were denied the right to vote. The latest and greatest example of this to me was when Barack Obama took the oath of office, and the guy messed up The Oath Of Office in a historic moment on national TV. Barack Obama was forced to retake the Oath Of Office in a separate ceremony. Another example was when they tried to say Barack Obama was not an American Citizen. Basically, anything they can do to keep a brother from getting ahead.
US President Lincoln held a cabinet meeting on July 21, 1862. There he informed the leaders of his administration of his expansion of Confiscation Act which authorized the Union states to enlist Blacks for militia service, not as soldiers but as laborers, cooks, messengers and supply duties. He also showed to the members of the cabinet a draft order for colonizing Freed Blacks of the militias in a tropical country, as soon as the war ended of before depending on the circumstances of the war. Lincoln had always wanted to have such plans as early as when became aware of the American Colonization Society.
I know Alberto Gonzalez was appointed Cabinet member in Feb 2005, but i read that Barak Obama is appointing as much as 4 Hispanic members to his Cabinet, and rightly so as they are the largest Ethnic minority in the USA, but i am not entirely sure the number of members at the moment, i hope this helped :) Overall, Obama has picked five women, four blacks, three Hispanics and two Asians as Cabinet-level appointments. The team includes former rivals, political opponents and even a few who had standout careers in basketball, Obama's favorite sport.
they segregated blacks and whites.
